Follow-up: Was This Tragedy An Act Of Cowardice?

In follow-up to the post yesterday about Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan,

“Was This Tragedy An Act Of Cowardice?”

an interesting note from the mainstream media:

CBS and NBC Fail to ID Hasan as Muslim; ABC’s Raddatz Relays: ‘I Wish His Name was Smith’

Neither the CBS Evening News nor NBC Nightly News, in their East coast feeds Thursday night, noted the Muslim religious beliefs of the mass killer at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas, but ABC anchor Charles Gibson wasn’t cowed by political correctness as he teased World News, “Fort Hood tragedy: An Army officer, a Muslim convert, is the suspect in a shooting spree…” Introducing his first story, Gibson referred to how Major Nidal Malik Hasan “an army officer, a Muslim, opened fire with handguns…” (With a range of frequency, during late afternoon/early evening coverage, CNN, FNC and MSNBC all identified Hasan as a Muslim.) Cryptically, ABC’s senior foreign affairs correspondent, Martha Raddatz, concluded a story on reaction at Fort Hood: “As for the suspect, Nadal Hasan, as one officer’s wife told me, ‘I wish his name was Smith.’” So, a concern this will lead to groundless fear of Muslims?

And then Our Dear Leader, President Obama warns that we should not jump to conclusions about Hasan! And just why shouldn’t Americans at least think that a life long Muslum could be a terrorist? Who exploded a truck inside the World Trade Towers? Who blew up American embassies in Africa? Who killed American sailors aboard the U.S.S. Cole? Who beheaded an American journalist? Who hijacked multiple aircraft on 9-11-2001 killing thousands of Americans? MUSLIMS! WAKE UP DEAR LEADER, they are our enemies! They want to kill Americans and to destroy the American way of life.

When is this idiot of a president going to wake up and realize we are at war. A war for our very existence. These are a people who have wanted to destroy every Christian since their religion was founded. Using nice polite terms is not going to win this war. Terms like collateral damage, persons of interest and overly restrictive rules of engagement are not helping our cause. They are getting Americas killed. It is time to drop this PC crap and call a spade a spade. A terrorist is an evil person who wants to kill as many Americans as possible. Let the military do what it was trained to do… kill our enemies! If a few civilians are killed, that is the price of war.

There is also the problem with what the doctor was reported yelling while on his killing spree, soldiers reported that the gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar!” — an Arabic phrase for “God is great!” Is this not a “battle cry of radical Islamic terrorist?

There is much that needs to be explained, both by the local police and the military regarding this killer. Could it be possible that Hasan was a sleeper agent? How many more possible Islamic terrorist could just be sitting out there time in the military, waiting to unleash terror?

Another case where some people just have to change history, no matter how correct it is!

Black Students Asked To Act As Slaves In Civil War Lesson

Reporter, by Mark Becker.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some parents from Union County say a history lesson at Mecklenburg County’s Latta Plantation went too far when black children were picked out to play the roles of slaves.

The students from Rea View Elementary in Waxhaw were touring the plantation Wednesday when Ian Campbell, who is a historian at the site, chose the three children from a group of mostly white children to portray slaves in the 1850s.

The children were given shoulder bags to carry the cotton they would have picked.

Campbell, who is black, told Eyewitness News he was simply trying to make the presentation as realistic as possible, but the mother of one of the children called the selection outrageous.

A spokeswoman for the Union County school district said administrators were “surprised by the lack of sensitivity” of the presentation. Parents plan to meet with school administrators Friday morning to address their concerns.

Campbell said he will ask for volunteers in future presentations. He suggested he’s surprised by the uproar.

“I chose to be historically correct instead of politically correct,” he said Thursday.

Once again we are not allowed to reenact history as it really happened. We have to be Oh So Politically Correct! It makes my stomach turn. This is similar to the case where ONE person objected to historic newspapers hanging in a V.A. Hospital declaring the end of World War II with the words “Japs Surrender”! That was the terminology of the time. Get with it people, you can’t change history because you object to historical facts! Live with it. It is called history. I’m sure Mr. Campbell is not a racist. He is a gentleman who knows history. I don’t think I have a ever seen a picture of a White, Native American, Chinese or any other race than Blacks as slave. Yes it was wrong, yes it was a terrible chapter of American history, but it happened. LIVE WITH IT!

Was This Tragedy An Act Of Cowardice?

12 Dead, 31 Wounded in Base Shootings

Was This Tragedy An Act Of Cowardice?

Why would an Army trained psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, MD, U.S. Army, MD  turn out to be a cold blooded killer? How could a physician who was trained at the the military’s Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, completed a residency in psychiatry and worked at Walter Reed Medical Center, the Army’s show case medical facility perform such a horrendous act on his fellow soldiers?

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, MD, U.S. Army

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, MD, U.S. Army

Was this a man who already suffered from PTSD due to his work with returning warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan even before he saw the horrors of war? Or, was this the act of a man who saw an easy way to get a medical degree for free? Then when the reality that he might be sent into harm’s way, he snapped, going on a killing rampage.

What ever the answer, it is a true tragedy for the Army and civilians who were exposed to this event. At last total, there are 12 dead and 31 wounded at the sprawling U.S. Army Base at Fort Hood, TX. My heart goes out to all of the killed, wounded and their families.

Only time will tell the story.

If George Bush was an Idiot…..

If George Bush was an Idiot…..

THIS SUMS UP OUR CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE I HAVE SEEN. STRONG FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent of thousands of tax payer dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced iembarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 10 months — so you’ll have three more years to come up with an answer.

The Shovel Ain’t Ready.

Shovel ready

When President Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus bill last February, the administration projected that the bill would create or save 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year, in part by quickly implementing “shovel-ready” infrastructure and energy projects. Unfortunately, the job market has thus far deteriorated further than economists had projected and proponents of the stimulus bill are now scrambling for explanations. But new data on the stimulus bill makes clear that many supposedly shovel-ready projects are still tied up in administrative red tape.

The administration recently announced that stimulus spending totaled $113 billion by the end of fiscal 2009 (which ended September 30). While this top-line number was consistent with what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected when the bill passed, the composition of spending differs significantly from the original estimates. Transfer payments to states and individuals for unemployment insurance and education have far exceeded initial projections, while spending for construction and infrastructure projects, designed to fuel job creation, is far below the original plan. A closer look at the implementation of the stimulus bill reveals why it is not surprising that the bill has failed to meet its objective of stimulating the economy.

The Departments of Commerce, Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, Interior, and Transportation have spent less than 10 percent of their stimulus funds, far less than what was originally anticipated.

Federal departments and agencies tasked with spending money on infrastructure and construction have overwhelmingly failed to get the money out the door. The Departments of Commerce, Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, Interior, and Transportation have spent less than 10 percent of their stimulus funds, far less than what was originally anticipated. In the case of the Department of Energy, the stimulus bill provided $38.7 billion to promote energy efficiency and develop renewable energy sources, yet only $779 million, or 2 percent, of the money was spent by September 30, less than half of what was expected. The Department of Transportation, with its particular emphasis on shovel-ready projects, spent 8 percent of its stimulus funds—only three-fourths of what it was expected to have spent thus far. Other agencies have done far worse—National Institutes for Health and the National Science Foundation spent only 1 percent of their stimulus funds in the first seven months. At that rate, those agencies would take 58 years to exhaust their stimulus money.

Why is the money for these projects being spent so slowly? Spending on infrastructure and construction takes time because states must identify appropriate projects and then ensure that those projects meet all laws and requirements, including any required environmental impact studies prior to obligating funds. Once the money is committed, the state generally must select a contractor through a competitive bidding process before work can commence. This process can take years. The CBO, for example, originally estimated that some of the money provided for infrastructure in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act would not be spent until 2019.

The CBO originally estimated that some of the money provided in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for infrastructure would not be spent until 2019.

Meanwhile, spending for transfer programs, especially for unemployment insurance benefits, and new and existing federal education spending, is proceeding much faster than anticipated. States received $6.5 billion more than CBO estimated for education through the Department of Education’s new State Fiscal Stabilization Fund. Spending for student financial assistance at the Department of Education also outstripped CBO’s original estimate by about the same amount. Altogether, the Department of Education spent $20.6 billion by the end of fiscal 2009, $11.7 billion more than anticipated. The Department of Labor spent $27.5 billion, an amount that exceeded CBO’s original estimate by nearly $10 billion, because total unemployment benefits were substantially more than expected. The Department of Health and Human Services was the biggest spender by department, with nearly $33 billion in outlays, nearly all of it federal payments to the states to operate Medicaid, about the same amount as originally forecast.

With a promise to restart the economy by providing needed demand in a faltering economy, Congress delivered the stimulus bill to the president’s desk less than a month after his inauguration, a legislatively impressive feat. Unfortunately, as the hard evidence about the bill starts to accumulate, it is clear that the legislation has done little thus far to help get workers back to work. Looking forward with a goal of creating jobs, lawmakers need to reexamine the stimulus bill and ask if there is any reason to hope that it will perform better in the year ahead. With the federal deficit exploding, Congress needs to either find a way for the stimulus bill to create real economic results quickly and efficiently or maybe just pull the plug.

How Reid thinks about Americans

Don’t you just love transparency in our government?

Harry Reid,

nancy_pelosi

The MADAM

Nancy Pelosi, and

Obama

Our Dear Leader, Comrade Obama.

Barack Obama are scheming in secret on ObamaCare… they’re essentially meeting behind closed doors to re-write it.

What’s in this re-write? Who knows? But one thing is certain… your worst health care nightmares are about to come true… and soon.

That’s not a rumor. It’s an unfortunate fact. Patricia Murphy with Politics Daily writes:

“[T]op White House officials are now meeting in the Capitol with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sens. Chris Dodd of Connecticut

chris-dodd2

I need a gun!

and Max Baucus

Max Baucus

How I love to screw Americans

of Montana, away from Republicans and the press….”

But it gets even worse.

Once the cat was out of the bag – in what may go down in history as one of the most surreal moments of American political history – Harry Reid and Max Baucus actually emerged from their proverbial smoke-filled room just long enough to reassure us that they’re actually being open and transparent.

According to Jeffrey Young with The Hill:

“Two senators at the forefront of healthcare reform went to great lengths Tuesday to brag about how open and transparent the legislative process has been. Then, they resumed prepping for another closed-door meeting.”

Baucus actually had the audacity to tell the assembled reporters:

“I have not been involved in such an open and transparent process as this. I’m very, very proud that we have done it… it’s so important to remind ourselves that no effort that I’ve been involved in and I don’t think anyone else in the Senate’s been involved with – certainly nothing with such significance and magnitude – has been so open and transparent as this. Totally open and transparent and I’m very proud of it.”

Dodd picked up the thought and continued the sickening charade:

“Let me pick up on the point that Sen. Baucus was making. The suggestion somehow that this is being done otherwise is just blatantly false and a distraction from [what] we need to be talking about.”

And when they were finished… they excused themselves and went back to their back-room negotiations.

Feel like screaming yet? Remember, they are all looking out for us, and their bank accounts!

When Asked Where the Constitution Authorizes Congress to Order Americans To Buy Health Insurance, Pelosi Says: ‘Are You Serious?’

Friday, October 23, 2009

By Matt Cover, Staff Writer

The MADAM!

The MADAM!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)

(CNSNews.com) – When CNSNews.com asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday where the Constitution authorized Congress to order Americans to buy health insurance–a mandate included in both the House and Senate versions of the health care bill–Pelosi dismissed the question by saying: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

Pelosi’s press secretary later responded to written follow-up questions from CNSNews.com by emailing CNSNews.com a press release on the “Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform,” that argues that Congress derives the authority to mandate that people purchase health insurance from its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce.

The exchange with Speaker Pelosi on Thursday occurred as follows:

CNSNews.com: “Madam Speaker, where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?”

Pelosi: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”

CNSNews.com: “Yes, yes I am.”

Pelosi then shook her head before taking a question from another reporter. Her press spokesman, Nadeam Elshami, then told CNSNews.com that asking the speaker of the House where the Constitution authorized Congress to mandated that individual Americans buy health insurance as not a “serious question.”

“You can put this on the record,” said Elshami. “That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question.”

Currently, each of the five health care overhaul proposals being considered in Congress would command every American adult to buy health insurance. Any person defying this mandate would be required to pay a penalty to the Internal Revenue Service.

In 1994, when the health care reform plan then being advanced by President Clinton called for mandating that all Americans buy health insurance, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office studied the issue and concluded:

“The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States. An individual mandate would have two features that, in combination, would make it unique. First, it would impose a duty on individuals as members of society. Second, it would require people to purchase a specific service that would be heavily regulated by the federal government.”

Later on Thursday, CNSNews.com followed up on the question, e-mailing written queries for the speaker to her Spokesman Elshami.

“Where specifically does the Constitution authorize Congress to force Americans to purchase a particular good or service such as health insurance?” CNSNews.com asked the speaker’s office.

“If it is the Speaker’s belief that there is a provision in the Constitution that does give Congress this power, does she believe the Constitution in any way limits the goods and services Congress can force an individual to purchase?” CNSNews.com asked. “If so, what is that limit?”

Elshami responded by sending CNSNews.com a Sept. 16 press release from the Speaker’s office entitled, “Health Insurance Reform, Daily Mythbuster: ‘Constitutionality of Health Insurance Reform.’” The press release states that Congress has “broad power to regulate activities that have an effect on interstate commerce. Congress has used this authority to regulate many aspects of American life, from labor relations to education to health care to agricultural production.”

The release further states: “On the shared responsibility requirement in the House health insurance reform bill, which operates like auto insurance in most states, individuals must either purchase coverage (and non-exempt employers must purchase coverage for their workers)—or pay a modest penalty for not doing so. The bill uses the tax code to provide a strong incentive for Americans to have insurance coverage and not pass their emergency health costs onto other Americans—but it allows them a way to pay their way out of that obligation. There is no constitutional problem with these provisions.”

MADAM Pelosi has to be one of, if not the most dangerous woman in America today. She has an ego larger the even Our Dear Leader, Comrade Obama.

Is this the end of THE Madam?

The Madam of the House.

The Madam of the House.

It would appear that the West Coasters have finally come to their senses. At least that what a recent poll reports. Perhaps those fine people of California will finally have her head on a platter come the next election. An act that is long over due. One less Socialist in Washington.

Poll: Only 34 percent of Californians approve of Pelosi’s performance

By Jordan Fabian – 10/19/09 01:05 PM ET

A poll released over the weekend shows that only 34 percent of Californians approve of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) job performance, down 14 points from March.

The study, conducted by the Field Research Corportation, also showed that 44 percent of respondents disapproved of her job performance while 22 percent held no opinion. In the organization’s last poll in March, 48 percent of respondents approved of Pelosi’s job performance while 35 percent disapproved.

Democrats approved of Pelosi’s performance as leader by a count of 51-23, with 26 percent expressing no opinion. Republicans overwhelmingly disapproved of her performance: 7 percent approved, 79 percent disapproved and 14 percent said they held no opinion.

39 percent of “non-partisans” approved of her while 37 percent disapproved, with 24 percent responding that they had no opinion.

Pelosi’s job approval had sunk to similar lows in October and December 2007 during President George W. Bush’s second term.

In the last seven months, the House of Representatives has taken on a number of big-ticket issues. The lower chamber passed a cap-and-trade energy bill and has drafted sweeping healthcare reform legislation that includes a controversial public health insurance option.

The economic stimulus bill was signed into law in February but critics of the legislation have pointed to high unemployment as a sign the bill has failed to achieve its goals. Democratic leaders and the Obama administration have defended the measure’s role in stabilizing the economic downturn.

The study polled 1,005 Californians by phone from Sept. 18 to Oct. 5.

IN MY AMERICA, ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT US.

IN MY AMERICA, ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT US.

by

COLONEL DONALD J. MYERS USMC (Ret)

I am sure there are those who will think that it is rather presumptuous of me to say my America. I have earned that right. After years as an enlisted Marine followed by years as a midshipman and finally years as a Marine officer and two years in combat and being wounded I can proudly say, my country.

I have been voting since 1956 and many elections were by absentee ballot since I was deployed on numerous occasions. While I was on active duty, I did not spend much time studying politics because I did not think that it was proper as an officer; however, since I retired I have become a political junkie and follow politics very carefully. My final tour of duty was Commanding Officer of Marine Barracks in Washington DC and as such I provided security for President Reagan at Camp David and at the hospital whenever he went to Bethesda. I saw firsthand how many politicians played the game and they reveled in the power.

The first President Bush caused me some concern and President Clinton caused me to lose more hair. The second Bush disappointed me in many areas, but his position on taxes and security overrode all others. Now we have President Obama and I am almost in a panic. It is difficult to gauge his background since so little is truly known about it. We know that he spent time as a state senator and community organizer, and two years as a US Senator. He attended top level schools in the east and became a lawyer, but other than his two bios, very little of his writings are known or available. He is portrayed as an individual who is at genius level, but no documentation to support the assertion.

He inherited a bad economy and a war in the middle east, but his actions up to this point has merely thrown gasoline on the fire. He has done almost everything that FDR did only more so, and for those who truly study history, FDR’s actions merely caused the depression to last until WWII.

WWII caused us to stop the stupid public programs that had not worked and concentrate on producing to win the war. That is what ended the depression, but I do not recommend another war as a remedy.

The president has a huge majority in the house and a filibuster proof majority in the senate. With those, he has pushed through huge spending bills, bailouts of various organizations, and nationalization of car companies, banks, and mortgage companies. All student loans will now be controlled by the federal government. The government is growing by leaps and bounds with all of this, but it does not seem to be enough for those who love a huge government and the power that it brings.

The ultimate gem in the federal crown is the healthcare bill, and all stops are employed in order to push that through. Americans have spoken loud and clear and stated that we do not want the federal government to run it. Town hall meetings and other demonstrations have made it quite clear that we do not want the federal government to control it.

The response from Washington is to call us terrorists, mobs, and nuts. “We don’t know what is good for us.” Now it seems that since we are so stupid, they will try to pass the health bill by stealth. The senate has two bills on the subject and Senator Reid intends to mesh them together and add them as an amendment to a TARP bill that taxes bonuses for executives in business. It will not be initially recognized as a health care bill but an amendment. It seems that there are members of congress in safe seats who have no fear about possibly not being reelected. In their view, they can do whatever they please because there are no consequences when things go poorly.

We may not be able to do much concerning those politicians who are in safe seats now, but it is time to send those who do not truly represent us to the unemployment line. There should be no such thing as safe seat, and we need to work to insure that our representatives retain their seats only as long as they act in the best interest of the county.
